Students' Green Fund - our achievements and impact

The Students' Green Fund was a £5 million fund supporting transformational sustainability projects in 25 students' unions across England.  Our evaluation shows the incredible impact the projects had on students, their students' unions and their institutions.

From energy saving, to food production, to enterprise, to political campaigning, to education for sustainable development, Students’ Green Fund projects have delivered huge benefits across campuses and communities.

Here’s a little taster of what we achieved now we can look back on the two years of funding:

  • Over 120,000 students engaged
  • Over 5,000 in-depth volunteers working on sustainability
  • Nearly 200 student-led projects funded
  • Nearly 2,000 audits of homes and organisations
  • 4,600 tonnes of carbon (and equivalent) saved

These outcomes go to show what students’ unions can accomplish, especially with the support of HEFCE funding. Read more in our final report.

Don't just take our word for it either - you can read the report of our external evaluator too.
