Upcoming webinar Hidden energy poverty The student perspective

Join us on the 15h January for our final webinar of the Horizon 2020 SAVES 2 project (Students Achieving Valuable Energy Savings) where we will discuss insights and share good practices and recommendations from the project, in particular regarding fuel poverty and the importance of student engagement to achieve valuable energy savings at universities.

During its lifetime (May 2017 - January 2021) SAVES 2 has supported students across Europe in minimising their carbon footprint in their university and private accommodation, raising awareness about energy efficiency and smart metering, helping them reduce their exposure to fuel poverty, promoting sustainable energy behaviours, and empowering them to continue energy-saving actions beyond their time in education.

Now, we would like to share our findings and recommendations with you at our webinar on the 15th January at 10am-12pm GMT (11am-1pm CET). The preliminary programme and regular updates will be available on the event webpage. Participation is free but registration is mandatory via this link (registered participants will receive an automatic email with the link to join the Zoom meeting).

SAVES2 has run student behaviour change campaigns in 14 universities and 120 dormitories in 7 European countries, most of which experience high levels of energy poverty, and has engaged over 135,000 students in the private rented sector around smart metering and energy efficiency. The project has achieved a big impact in terms of energy savings, measured via a novel and engaging online energy dashboard. Research carried out within the project has provided relevant findings regarding students exposure to fuel poverty, and the impacts of this exposure on their well-being, thus contributing to a better understanding and recognition of students as a vulnerable group. The project was awarded the 2018 International Sustainable Campus Network Excellence Awards in the Student Leadership Category, and has been selected as one of the 12 finalists for the EUSEW 19 (EU Sustainable Energy Awards) and for the 2020 International Green Gown Awards.

We hope you will be able to join us on the 15th January for this exciting webinar!
