VACANCY: Mock COP Campaign Coordinator

We’re delighted to be recruiting a Campaign Coordinator based in Oceania to join the existing four coordinators to support the planning and delivery of the Mock COP campaign throughout 2023.

Mock COP is a campaign hosted by SOS-UK, and has grown into a global movement of young people lobbying, and working with, their leaders to implement ambitious policies dedicated to meaningful climate action. Each ‘phase’ of Mock COP has included a range of focused projects related to our Mock COP treaty to support young people to take positive action locally. Our campaign is driven by volunteers and coordinated by a global youth staff team who are supported by core staff at SOS-UK.

These roles make an excellent professional development opportunity for a student or young person interested in climate justice and campaigning. We will support the successful candidate to manage their responsibilities to minimise impact on their education, and their wellbeing will be prioritised. We're not expecting applicants to know everything from day one, and mentoring, guidance and development opportunities will be provided within the role. Please thoroughly read through the Campaign Coordinator role profile before completing the application form.

Before applying please carefully consider if you have time to take on the role without it negatively impacting your education or wellbeing. We ask that paid staff are available for Zoom calls a couple of times in the week. If you aren't in a position to take on a paid role we'd encourage you to consider joining our volunteer team!

To apply, please fill out and submit our application form by Sunday 16 April, 2023, 11:59am (BST).

Applicants will be notified on the outcome of their application by 18 April and interviews will likely take place via Zoom.

Successful applicants outside of the UK will be recruited as contractors.

Mock COP and SOS-UK values climate justice and diversity in ability, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, class and other protected characteristics. We are especially keen to encourage applications from people currently under-represented in the environment movement. We acknowledge that the environmental sector is the second least diverse sector in the UK and currently experiences, needs and priorities of marginalised groups are often left out of responses to the climate emergency, this is something we are keen to address.
