Come and join the Teach the Future campaign! We’re delighted to be recruiting for up to 4 Campaign Organisers to support the progression of the Teach the Future campaign.
This role is ideal for a current student between the ages of 14-26.
The roles will involve working together in a small student staff team, alongside SOS-UK core staff support, to mobilise young people to advocate for quality climate eductaion policies in the run up to a General Election. The roles will work with a diverse group of volunteers to engage a range of stakeholders including government, politicians, civil society and other sectors to engage local and national politicians through events and meetings and gain support for climate education policies.
These roles make an excellent professional development opportunity for a student or young person based anywhere in the UK interested in climate justice and education. We will support the successful candidate to manage their responsibilities to minimise impact on their education, and their wellbeing will be prioritised. We're not expecting applicants to know everything from day one, and mentoring, guidance and development opportunities will be provided within the role. Please thoroughly read through the Campaign Organiser role profile at the bottom of this page before completing the application form.
Teach the Future is a UK-wide campaign, with branches in all four nations. We strongly encourage applications from those with lived experience of the devolved nature of education in Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England.
Before applying please carefully consider if you have time to take on the role without it negatively impacting your education or wellbeing. We ask that paid staff are available for Zoom calls during a couple weekday evenings. If you aren't in a position to take on a paid role we'd encourage you to consider joining our volunteer team!
To apply, please complete our application form by 15th January 2024, 12:00pm GMT.
Applicants will be notified on the outcome of their application on 16th January and interviews will likely take place on Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd January via Zoom.
Teach the Future and SOS-UK values climate justice and diversity in ability, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, class and other protected characteristics. We are especially keen to encourage applications from people currently under-represented in the environment movement. We acknowledge that the environmental sector is the second least diverse sector in the UK and currently experiences, needs and priorities of marginalised groups are often left out of responses to the climate emergency, this is something we are keen to address.
In line with our safeguarding policies, and to support the prioritisation of education and wellbeing in the campaign, we require that successful applicants under 18 years old provide parental consent. Successful applicants over 18 will be asked to have an enhanced DBS check.
