The new programme is unlike any other in the sector, combining online carbon footprinting and reduction technology via the interactive Giki Zero tool with a comprehensive programme of engagement, training, learning and development that utilises SOS-UK's years of experience.

The programme engages staff and students campus wide in reducing their personal carbon footprint by selecting over 120 carbon reduction actions listed on GIKI Zero,  with online teams and leaderboards feeding back progress. The tool provides the most detailed science-based carbon calculators available for personal lifestyles, covering everything from food to transport and financial services to pets.

The online tool is supported by a range of engagement activities including activity sprints, webinars, staff workshops, and student volunteering that will build on knowledge and ensure staff and students are engaged, supported and empowered on their carbon reduction journey.

SOS-UK Director of Engagement Joanna Romanowicz says “we have been developing the new programme with Giki over the past year and are really excited that we are now ready to offer it out to universities and workplaces. We can’t wait to roll it out across different sectors and play a part in supporting the great work that is taking place to create sustainable workplaces that staff and students are proud of”.
